December 5, 2010- I'm a romantic, so I guess it's natural that weddings are one of my favorite gigs to work on. I always tell my brides that I'll be their "second maid-of-honor" on their wedding, because let's face it--their maid-of-honor are also dolled up on the day of their wedding that they can't really run around and tend to the bride's needs now, can they?

Anyway, Nikki contacted me to style for her wedding while I was in Naga for my post-Fashion Week vacation. She got me as her on the day stylist, so she already had her wedding gown made. Nikki's very much into details and she told me she wanted to have Blake Lively's look from the Gossip Girl Season 2 premiere (a.k.a. The White Party episode):

First thing I noticed when I arrived in her bridal suite was how busy she was! She was on the phone nonstop, and I was shocked to learn that she arranged her whole wedding in a span of two weeks. Talk about Super Bride!

When we finally got her to sit down so we can doll her up I told her that I wanted her to have a much more dramatic look in terms of styling. Her mom also pointed out that she was concerned with the plunging neckline of her gown, so I put her in a Y-necklace (from Oleic accessories):


Nikki has graceful hands, so I did away with Blake's cuff and instead put her in a vine hand piece:

Instead of a traditional veil, I let her wear a vine headpiece to tie the whole look together:

Remember my pictorial for a couple of models last December 4, 2010? Well, here's the final product (by photographer extraordinare Mezarc Buslon):

Kent Albano (suit & bag by Yako Reyes)

Yako's suits are more of the relaxed and low-maintenace (it doesn't wrinkle) kind, so I paired it with a plain black shirt and a pageboy cap. And of course I had to use one of his fabulous bags from his Spring-Summer 2011 collection:

As for the other layout, I wanted a funkier look in contrast with Yako's classic look:

Jeff's pieces are all about details like intricate stitching and patchwork, so I did minimal accessorizing and instead mixed and matched key pieces from his Denim Distortion Collection for Spring-Summer 2011:

Tita Carol actually got us to do her portfolio in time for her birthday, and since she was one of the coolest people I've ever met, I wanted to give her an edgier image to contradict her sweet one:

Since we had a little bit of time in our hands and we wanted to have a bit of fun, we decided to do a magazine-story type of layout. I've always wanted to do an "older woman-younger man" a.k.a. Demi Moore-Ashton Kutcher-inspired layout and since we had the right cast...

Choi Seung Hyun a.k.a. T.O.P from Korean hip hop boy group BIGBANG. For one, he's multi-talented: he's a rapper (he just released his collaboration album with BIGBANG's leader G-Dragon, which had 20,000 pre-orders prior to release), composer (he writes all his songs) and an award-winning actor (he recently won an acting award for his critically-acclaimed movie, 71: Into the Fire).

Aside from the fact that he is so stylish (big applause to his personal stylist):


I mean, who would dye his hair white and have a mohawk and still look gorgeous?!


And he's not afraid to look goofy either:

December 2-3 - I barely had time to take a vacation from my Naga vacation when I had to style for the finale of Survivor Philippines. Now most of you know that I don't watch much television, so I had no idea what I was getting into when the project was first proposed to me. All I knew was that this edition would be the "Celebrity Edition" and that I had to style the whole cast.

Everything sounded cool to me, because it seemed like a not-so-stressful project, since their outfits would be provided by fashion design legend Rhett Eala, and I just had to accessorize.

Taking a cue from the show itself, the production team wanted the styling to be nature-inspired and organic:

All went well during the rehearsals, and everyone was in a chillax vibe:

So I was feeling really positive when I arrived bright and early the next morning for the taping. What I didn't consider was that the finale was live and the cast would be separated in 4 different dressing rooms located in 2 floors.

So up and down we (me + the hair & makeup team) went to get everyone dolled up and ready to roll. I almost wanted to curse myself for wearing 4-inch wedge boots on that day, but one has to suffer for fashion, I guess.

I always thought models had it easy. I mean, how hard is it to pose and smile in front of the camera, right? That was until I got a text from my makeup artist friend Tippy asking if I can do a shoot for him and his photographer friend, Mezarc. Thinking that I would help with the styling of the pictorial, I replied with a:

"Sure why not? Who's our model?"

Until I got a reply of:

"You!"

Oh, boy.


I knew I was in for an interesting afternoon as soon as I arrived at Tippy's studio. Being used to behind-the-scenes, I had no idea how to pose.  So I did the next best thing--be myself.

Tippy originally had an idea having a high-fashion-no-smiling layout for me, but being the happy-happy-joy-joy girl that I am, they decided to give me a "toothpaste commercial layout". So a few hours and a stiff neck later, here are the results:

Lesson for the day: Never underestimate models. What they do is a LOT of hard work!
